About Us

Tapatio's is owned and operated by Salvador & Beatrice Barajas (pictured) and family.   We serve the finest authentic Mexican cuisine in a fun and casual atmosphere.   We are proud of our friendly staff,  excellent service and quality ingredients.  Our menu includes many traditional favorites, including vegetarian options, a full bar and the customer favorite - our signature margaritas!  We are happy to serve the community of Newcastle, and appreciate the feedback we get from our customers.   See below for a sample of comments.

In addition to Tapatio's, the Barajas Family owns and operates River Rock Grill and Maplewood Greens in Renton, WA.

"Tapatio's is  the “Cheers “ of Newcastle!
It is TRULY the place where you can go---and everybody knows your name……The Barajas Family and their loyal staff welcome every neighbor as though they are the most important…
And every child as though they are the most precious.  From a comforting meal after a soggy basketball game….to a festive celebration with dear friends------Tapatio is our home away from home."

"During the big January snowstorm, many other drivers and I had to abandon our cars on the side of Coal Creek Parkway in Newcastle.  Road conditions became too unsafe to continue on.  Many of us had nowhere to go and walked down Coal Creek hoping to find a warm place to sort out our misfortune.  As always, the ever-faithful Tapatio Mexican Grill remained open to serve the community. The staff was happy to help and the food was as great as ever...The restaurant did not close early when other places were rapidly closing.  The staff and owners recognized that there were many stranded people, and they put helping others above their own personal needs and remained open. I want to extend my personal thank you to Tapatio's."

"The night of the storm I asked Salvador how late he was going to stay open.  His reply:  'As long as there are cold people.' "
